September 20, 2016 - Keuring in Red Deer, Alberta
Well, it was a wet and dreary keuring day at Bosch Farms in Red Deer, Alberta, but that didn't stop the Alberta Friesian Horse Association from putting on a great event.
This year we brought 3 foals and a mare for inspection

Rhiannon MF (Lolke 371 Sport x Liskje fan 'e Sjongedyk x Onne 376 Sport) - Studbook, ranked first of the 3 year old mare
It was a tough judging but fair and we had a lot of fun!
August 2, 2016 - All 5 of the mares we bred this year are confirmed in foal. It will be a busy foaling season in 2017!
June 2, 2016 - Our final foal of the year is another colt! His sire is Wobke 403 Sport and he is out of Trienke fan Olds by Ulke. This colt is sold! His name is Auke MF fan Netook.
May 27, 2016 - Our one in utero sale foal for 2016 has arrived, and it is a filly! Sired by Julius 486 and out of our Jakob mare Eowyn MF. Her name is Casmina MF.
May 22, 2016 - Finally, a keeper filly! Our Clydesdale mare Missy presented us with a beautiful filly, an embryo transfer from Star mare Vokeltsje D. and sired by Date 477 Sport. Her name is Calliope MF and she will be staying with us!
May 15, 2016 - The first foal of our foaling season has arrived! Another big strong colt, full brother to Zonta MF from 2015, this Sape colt out of Ceridwen MF is sold. His name is Arion MF.
February 11-14, 2016 - We had a fantastic time representing the Alberta Friesian Horse Association at the Saskatchewan Equine Expo. The weather was kind to us so there was a great turnout!
January 15, 2016 - The new edition of Horse Country magazine is out, and it features one of our old mares on the cover! You can see it online here: Horse Country
It also features an article on Friesian horse conformation written by myself and Carla Jordet, and an article by Annie Muilwijk about The Caravan, a horse trip across the southern USA in 2015. The Alberta Friesian Horse Association is well respresented in this issue!
October 1, 2015 - The shell of the barn is complete! Doors will be installed later this month and then we will get the stalls in place before spring foaling season arrives.

September 18, 2015 - KFPS Keuring day in Red Deer, Alberta! Our new filly Tsjitske-V. fan Lytssypenstein showed in the yearling class and was awarded a 2nd premium, with excellent marks on her walk and trot. This filly is an imported Alke daughter out of a Model Rypke daughter. She is a spitfire and we can't wait to see how she does at the keuring as an adult!
We had an amazing time at the keuring, as always the Alberta Friesian Horse Association put on a fantastic event with lots of fun and education for everyone.
August 21, 2015 - We are at the new farm! We will be moving slowly over the next few months, so please forgive us if things seem to be in disarray on both the website and Facebook page.
August 1, 2015 - We are welcoming a new breeding lease mare to Mythic Friesians! Trienke fan Olds will be coming to us from our wonderful friend Carla Jordet in Alberta. Trienke is a beautiful Ulke mare, and she is expecting a foal in 2016, so we are now expecting a 4th foal in 2016!

July 10, 2015 - It is official! Mythic Friesians will be moving to a new location in late August, 2015. While it is a smaller piece of land, the set up is amazing for horses and we will be putting a brand new barn on it. Check our Facebook page for pictures of the new farm as it unfolds!
June 9, 2015 - We will have a new black beauty joining us this fall! Stay tuned for details.
June 3, 2015 - Undara MF is home, but a long way from out of the woods. We have switched care to a vet who was willing to give her more time to come through the laminitis. She has a very long road ahead of her, and we would appreciate any and all prayers, light and healthy thoughts that anyone can spare for her! The good news is, her colt is doing very well. His legs have straightened up without the need for casts or surgery.
May 26, 2015 - Undara's colt by Bene was born with contracted tendons in both forelegs. While they did not look too bad, we decided to take him in to the University of Saskatchewan vet college to have him looked at - and it is a good thing we did! The colt is coming along marvelously and his legs are straightening just fine, but Undara has developed laminitis due to a uterine infection. She is currently undergoing intensive care to try to save her.
May 24, 2015 - The last Friesian foal of the year for Mythic Friesians has arrived. Undara MF had a beautiful colt by Bene 476. This colt was sold in utero, and his owner was able to be here to see him born! Congratulations Deb!
May 8, 2015 - All 3 of our 2015 colts are now SOLD.
May 4, 2015 - Our 2014 colt Viktor MF now has a full brother! Vokeltsje D. had her second colt by Sape 381 Sport this evening. This colt is For Sale.
April 18, 2015 - Our Tsjerk foal has finally arrived - fast and furious! It seemed like Eowyn just laid down and he popped right out. He is a very nice colt, and likely one of the last foals sired by the late Tsjerk 328 Sport Preferent anywhere in the world! This colt is For Sale.
April 15, 2015 - Ceridwen presented us with our first foal of the year - a big strapping Sape colt! While we were hoping for a filly, he is perfect so we won't complain. This colt is For Sale.
March 18, 2015 - Undara's results are in - and we are 4 for 4! She is negative for the hydracephalus and dwarfism genes. That means every one of our broodmares tested clear for both genes!
March 5, 2015 - Ceridwen's results are in - she is negative for both the dwarfism and hydracephalus genes!
February 17, 2015 - Great news for Mythic Friesians! We have received the test results for the waterhead and hydracephalus tests for Vokeltsje D. and Eowyn MF. Both mares are negative for both genes! That means they can be bred to any stallion and still have no chance of producing a dwarf or waterhead foal. We are still waiting on the test results for Ceridwen and Undara - we will post them as soon as we receive them.
September 19, 2014 - We had a great time at the KFPS keuring in Red Deer, Alberta. Undara MF and Vokeltsje D. both stayed at their current registry standing (3rd premium Studbook and 2nd premium Star, respectively) and Viktor MF was awarded a very high 2nd premium. The day ran smoothly - kudos to the site hosts! After the keuring, the judges held a judging clinic, and then stayed for a BBQ with the Alberta Friesian Horse Club. We are already looking forward to the 2015 keuring!
August 19, 2014 - One month until the Red Deer, Alberta keuring! We are taking Undara MF, Vokeltsje D, and Viktor MF this year. The count down is on! Hope to see lots of people there!
July 21, 2014 - Last preg checks of the year are completed! Undara MF is confirmed safely in foal to Bene 476. This foal is already sold!
June 13, 2014 - Vokeltsje D. is confirmed back in foal to Sape 381 Sport for 2015! This baby will be a full sibling to Viktor MF. We will be keeping the foal if it is a filly, but it will be available for sale if it is a colt.
June 6, 2014 - We needed some good news today, and thankfully, we got it. Ceridwen MF is confirmed in foal to Sape 381 Sport, and Eowyn MF is confirmed in foal to Tsjerk 328 Preferent! These 2015 foals will only be available for sale if they are colts.
June 4, 2014 - Today was a very sad day here at Mythic Friesians. We received a call from our vet that they had found Undara's colt, Thorondor, dead in the paddock. A necropsy was performed and it was determined that the cause of death was an aortic rupture. This is a far too common cause of death in Friesians, but unusual in one so young. We are devastated, for our own loss and for Kaitlyn, his owner.
May 17, 2014 - Our second and final foal of the year has arrived, after making us wait what seemed like forever! Vokeltsje had a much anticipated, very leggy colt sired by Sape this afternoon. This is the Age x Age line colt we have been waiting for! He will be staying at Mythic Friesians.
May 9, 2014 - Undara's foal has arrived! Just before midnight, Undara finally let us meet her Lolke foal - a gigantic colt! He is the biggest foal we have had in 11 years of breeding Friesians. His legs go on forever! He has his dam's easy personality - he was happy to be petted all over and then followed me for more. This colt is sold - his name is Thorondor MF. Congratulations Kaitlyn!
March 21, 2014 - All of our 2014 foals are now spoken for. We will have one foal for sale in 2015, out of Vokeltsje D, however this foal will not be available in utero. Please email us if you are interested in an in utero foal out of one of our mares in a future year!

October 1, 2013 - Undara's colt Pyke, sired by Doaitsen 420 Sport, has been sold and has left for his new home. His new owner took the liberty of renaming him so his official registered name is now Poseidon MF. Congratulations Janet and Poseidon! We can't wait to see how this boy turns out, and thankfully he won't be too far from home.
June 30, 2013 - Morgandy MF has been sold and has gone to her new home in Montana. Congratulations Nicole and Morgandy!
June 18, 2013 - Opal MF has gone to her new home with Joan Dixon in South Dakota. This filly is going to be a show stopper - we are so glad she is going to a great home that will make sure she gets to a keuring in a few years!
May 13, 2013 - Our second and last Friesian foal of the year made his debut today. After days of looking imminent, Undara MF decided to try to sneak her foal out at dinnertime, out in the field! We caught her in the act and this beautiful colt was born without complications. We are calling him Pyke MF (pronounced Pie-kuh) and he is for sale. Pictures of him on the For Sale page!
April 27, 2013 - Our first foal of 2013 is here! And we have been waiting for this foal a long time - since 2008 to be precise. This is our foal out of Liskje fan 'e Sjongedyk, sired by Lolke 371 Sport, and she was worth the wait! We have named her Rhiannon MF.
June 21, 2012 - Ceridwen's foal has arrived! With another filly, that makes us an all filly year. This one is sired by Sipke. She is a very pretty girl and will be tall like her mama. This filly is for sale - you can see pictures of her on our For Sale page.
May 22, 2012 - Our first Friesian foal of the year has arrived! Vokeltsje D presented us with a leggy, refined filly well ahead of schedule. Mom and baby are both doing great and Vogue his a natural mom! See pictures on Vogue's page and our Sold page.
May 6, 2012 - Undara MF is back from training and looking great! A huge thanks to Deb at Birchwood Stables and Jenn Bromm (owner of Wolfric MF) for taking such good care of her.
January 12, 2012 - Well, apparently we're not all that good at keeping secrets! Liskje fan e' Sjongedyk is returning to Mythic Friesians on a breeding lease in 2012. Thank you Lynn for allowing us the opportunity to breed this wonderful mare again!
January 9, 2012 - A new mare will be joining the Mythic Friesians herd soon! She is a familiar face and name to some of you. But, it's a secret until she arrives, so check back for more details soon!
January 2, 2012 - Undara MF has left to be trained under saddle! She is training at Birchwood Stables and will be there for 4 months, and then be coming home to be bred in May. It will be wonderful to have a horse to ride around here again!

August 26, 2011 - Two of our mares are confirmed pregnant for 2012. Ceridwen MF has been bred to Sipke 450 and is due July 18th, 2012. Vokeltsje D is bred to Tonjes 450, due June 22nd, 2012.
July 14, 2011 - The newest addition to the Mythic Friesians family has arrived! Our much anticipated two legged baby is here! Our son Kayden was born at 4:11am, weighing in at 9 lbs exactly. It won't be long before he takes over training the Friesians!
January 5, 2011 - It has been a sad start to our year here at Mythic Friesians. Today, we found Pieterke fan 'e Kamperdyk cast in a fence. With the recent extreme cold and how long she had been down, she was never able to regain her feet, and she had to be euthanized. RIP Pita - now you are free from sickness once again.

Vokeltsje D. awarded Second Premium Star and Champion of the Day! The judges commented on her beautiful, desirable modern body type and the suppleness of her movement.
Undara MF awarded Third Premium and placed first in her class! The judges commented on her powerful walk and good conformation, and suggested she be brought back after more training.
August 17, 2010 - Sadly, today we had to put down the matriarch of our herd, our old girl Ourenske H. She had been having increasing trouble with her hocks, and they finally gave out on her completely. She is buried on our property, under a big old tree with a view of the prairies. RIP Wren - you will be missed forever, but you will live on in our hearts.
May 8, 2010 - Well, it's not a horse related update, but it still seemed like something that should be posted here. On this day, Allison Carpenter (owner of Mythic Friesians) married Robert Thomas! It was a small casual ceremony and great fun was had by all! So if you notice a name change throughout our websites - from Allison Carpenter to Allison Thomas - now you know why!
April 12, 2010 - Random MF is sold! It is a bittersweet day, as we hate to see this boy leave - he is the Mythic Friesians baby who has been with us the longest. But, he's not going too far, so we'll be able to visit him at least!

December 1, 2009 - Our youngest stallion, Wolfric MF, has gone to his new home in Balgonie, Saskatchewan! Wolfric is joining our mare Shera, both now owned by Jennifer Bromm. Keep an eye out for this boy in the future - he is going to do great things! Congratulations to both Wolfric and Jennifer!

June 28, 2009 - Our Jakob filly is here! She's tall and dainty and perfect, except the her birth caught us entirely by surprise. She arrived nearly 4 weeks early! Pieterke is a wonderful mom and both filly and mom are doing well.
May 22, 2009 - One of Mythic Friesians' babies is coming home for a while. Thomas MF, son of our deceased mare Renske Welmoed, is moving to Saskatchewan! We're excited to have him back to get him prepared for the keuring, and we're even more excited that his owner, Dani, will be moving to Saskatchewan as well in August!
May 14, 2009 - Our new mare has finally arrived! After purchasing Pieterke fan e Kamperdyk in May of last year, she stayed in the Netherlands to be bred to Jakob 302. We decided to leave her there for the winter, and so now, after almost a year of waiting, she is finally home! See her page for more information.

September 25, 2008 - We're back from a whirlwind trip to the keuring in Maple Ridge, BC, and the keuring in Olds, AB! There were many great horses at both shows. We are SO proud to announce the following:

August 8, 2008 - The rest of the Friesian herd is here! Seven Friesian horses (5 mares, 2 stallions) now reside just outside of Davidson, Saskatchewan Canada. They are soon to be joined by another Friesian mare, and a Gypsy Cob stallion!
August 4, 2008 - We have arrived at the new farm in Saskatchewan! Began set up in anticipation of the arrival of the rest of the herd.
August 3, 2008 - The big move begins - left for Saskatchewan with ourselves, one horse (Ourenske H), two dogs and three cats. Two days of driving ahead!
July 27, 2008 - Our PMU mare, Suite with a View (better known as Star) is sold, and left for her new home! Congratulations to Star and to Lauren - you two were meant for each other!

March 21, 2008 - Lots of firsts for us today! Our first foal of 2008, first embryo transfer foal, first Wander baby, and our first Shera FILLY! Born around 1 am, she is big and perfect. She will be staying with Mythic Friesians as a future broodmare. We have named her Ceridwen MF.
June 18, 2007 - Our fifth and final foal of the year has arrived! This evening around 7pm, Liskje fan e Sjongedyk gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. This is her first foal and so far she has been a shining star of a mother! This colt, sired by Wikke 404, was sold in utero, and his name is Zunka MF.
May 18, 2007 - Fourth baby is here! And since the foal isn't ours, it is of course a filly. Christa W, one of our Mare Care clients, had a beautiful filly sired by Winand 401. The filly's name is Zoe.
May 11, 2007 - Our third foal of the year has arrived! This morning at 4:30 am, Ourenske H foaled out a very tall, very modern baby boy! His sire is Feike 395, one of the very best dressage Friesians around. The colt's name is Wolfric MF.
April 14, 2007 - Finally, the foal we never thought would arrive is HERE! This morning at 1 am, Emke W foaled a gorgeous, feminine filly sired by Ait 410. Her name is Winter MF, and she has her mom's pretty head and typey tipped in ears. Winter is owned by Jesse Berg, who also owns our filly Tahiti MF from 2006.
April 7, 2007 - Our first foal of the year is here! A beautiful colt sired by Rintse 386. This colt is out of a mare we used to own, Grace, who came back to us to foal out. She was a bit early, day 322, but both mom and baby are doing well. Grace is being a wonderful first time mom! We will post pictures of him soon.
April 4, 2007 - Updated our For Sale page. We have 5 new horses for sale: 2 mares and 3 geldings. We have many more pictures of them, so if you're interested, just ask!
February 20, 2007 - You may have noticed some website problems around here the last few days. That's because we have switched website providers and are in the process of porting everything over from the old provider to the new. We think it is mostly under control now but are still getting some of the pictures updated. So, if you notice any problems, please feel free to let us know. And, if you sent us an email in the last few days and didn't get a response, it may be because of this change, so please resend it!

February 1, 2007 - Today we lost a great friend, a great mother, and a great soul. Our star Tsjomme mare, Renske Welmoed, passed away after complications following surgery to correct a severe twist of her large intestine. Also with her passed her unborn Rintse foal. Renske will always be greatly missed.
January 18, 2007 - We are home from the stallion show in the Netherlands, and what a show it was! Onne 376, the father of our own LISKJE, was made champion stallion of the show! We toured a number of farms and met a lot of approved stallions: Olrik 383, Jakob 302, Wikke 404, Doaitsen, Folkert, Monte, Jorn, Jense, Beintse, Jasper, and more. They were all as amazing as we had dreamed, and many of them were even more so! We also met some wonderful people from across North America and the Netherlands. A special thank you to Rick and Ellen Simonetti for making this trip such a wonderful experience!
January 13 & 14, 2007 - Stallion Show in Leeuwarden. Onne 376 was awarded Champion Stallion and Harmen 424 was Reserve Champion. 26 young stallions were selected to go to the 70 day test at Drachten.
December 17, 2006 - We are home from a wonderful Equine Reproduction Workshop at Oregon State University. We covered an amazing amount of material and received lots of hands-on training. We highly recommend this course to anyone interested in breeding, for any breed of horse!
December 15, 2006 - Liskje is home at last! After her long trip from the Netherlands, to New York, then Virginia, then Colorado, she is finally home at Mythic Friesians. She is tall and beautiful, no doubt about that. Her movement is to die for, and she has the temperment to match. New pictures of her are on her page.
December 9, 2006 - It's here! Singer/songwriter Laura Doyle has completed her second album, aptly named Dark Horse. November 26, 2006 - We have SNOW! Yes, in our area that is actually quite news worthy. And we couldn't resist getting some new pictures with our wonderful black horses playing in the snow. You'll find new pictures of Renske Welmoed, Emke W, and Ourenske H all playing in the powdery white stuff.

October 21, 2006 - There is another new mare coming to Mythic Friesians! With the sale of our young mare Grace, we wanted to bring in another young mare to fill out our herd. Grace's bloodlines are incredible, and we wanted to find a mare that has equally impressive, though possibly different, lines. So with the help of our friends Rick and Ellen at Friesians 4 USA, we went hunting for just the right mare. And, as always, they found just what we wanted.

September 22, 2006 - Grace has been sold! It was unexpected as Grace was not for sale, but the opportunity for her perfect life arose and we could not deny it to her. She is heading out of Mythic Friesians to a wonderful life as a broodmare, movie horse, and best of all, a companion to an 8 year old girl!
September 17, 2006 - Quantum MF has been sold! He is going to be living in Calgary, Alberta, and is now owned by Carrie Wagner. He will be a fantastic show horse and have the very best life any horse could ever want! We look forward to hearing how he does at his three year old keuring!
August 26, 2006 - There have been a number of website updates over the past few weeks. Femke and Shera's pages have been overhauled, and Undara's page has been updated. Also updated our For Sale page - we now have 3 adult horses for sale, as well as one of last year's colts, and three in utero foals for 2007. July 19, 2006 - Emke W is here! And what an amazing girl she is. Long arched neck, beautiful face, and perfect tipped in ears (they nearly touch!). Then she moves - and takes your breath away. Come and see the new pictures on her page!

June 9, 2006 - Thomas MF is sold! He has been purchased by our good friend, Dani Vavri from Vancouver Island. Thomas will be living at Mythic Friesians until he is two, so the he can grow up as part of a herd, before going home to live with Dani. Congratulations Dani!
June 9, 2006 - It's confirmed; there is another mare coming to live at Mythic Friesians! We will soon be home to the lovely Olof daughter Emke W, owned by Danielle and Mike Black. Emke comes from stam 70 and is a full papered studbook mare. She should be arriving at our farm in July. Another excellent mare coming to us from Friesians 4 USA - thank you Rick and Ellen!
June 5, 2006 - Femke van de Brink and Grace are both confirmed pregnant! Both are bred to Rintse 386 for guaranteed fillies in 2007. Grace is due April 25th, and Femke is due April 23rd. Femke's filly is already sold to Tammy in Kitimat, BC.
May 29, 2006 - Renske Welmoed confirmed pregnant! She is bred to Rintse 386 for a guaranteed filly, due April 17th, 2007.
May 15, 2006 - Website update. Updated the For Sale page and the Sold Horses page. Also corrected Thurayya's page, and added new pictures to Thomas' page.
May 6, 2006 - Website update. Actually added the links to the new foals' pages, you can view them from the For Sale page or from their dam's page. Added Undara's page, and updated Ourenske's page. Cleaned up Femke's page. Added Undara to the Our Mares page. If you notice any broken links, please let us know!
May 4, 2006 - Our last foal of the year has arrived! Ourenske H, our full papered stam 22 mare, gave birth to a beautiful Erik filly at 11 pm. As Ourenske is getting on in years, we will be keeping her filly as part of our herd. The filly's name is Undara MF.
May 3, 2006 - Website update. Updated the Our Mares page with new pictures for Star and Femke van de Brink.
April 23, 2006 - Our third foal of the year! This one is out of our 1/4 Percheron, 3/4 Thoroughbred mare Star. She was bred to Al Ibn Jamal, a purebred Arabian stallion. Around 9 pm, Star gave birth to a big bay colt! His owner has named him Thurayya. He is already turning grey, and showing off his daddy's gorgeous movement.
April 11, 2006 - Website update. Added pages for the two new foals, and a couple of pictures for each. Updated the For Sale page. Updated Connor's page, more pictures to come.
April 10, 2006 - To add to the night, Femke van de Brink decided to surprise us with her first foal - and our first filly! She gave birth to a dainty, darling little girl at 4 am. This filly is owned by Jesse Berg from Fox Island, WA, and her name is Tahiti MF.
April 9, 2006 - Our first foal of the year! Renske Welmoed foaled at 9:45 pm. She had a big, handsome colt, sired by Teade 392. His name is Thomas MF and he is for sale. For more information on Thomas, see the For Sale page.
March 24, 2006 - Othello headed off to his new home in Ulman, Missouri. We are sad to see him leave us, but he is going to a spectacular home. Keep your eyes open for this boy in the coming years, as he's going to be amazing!
March 11, 2006 - Femke van de Brink's in utero foal is sold. Congratulations to Jesse Berg! We expect this foal to arrive in the first week of April.

January 24, 2006 - Othello MF is sold! He will be heading to his new home at Rush Farms in Missouri in March. Congratulations Sheila and Othello!

October 12, 2005 - Well now, it's been a while, hasn't it? Mythic Friesians has finally relocated all of the horses to our new location! Now located in beautiful, rainy Abbotsford BC, we are greatly enjoying having real fields, with real grass, on our own property. A lot has happened since our last update, so over the next few days, we will be doing massive updates to the entire page. Stay tuned for new information, new horses, and new pictures, plus a few new sale horses!

August 20, 2004 - New mare added to the Mythic Friesians herd. We're now preparing a warm Canadian welcome for our newest addition, Renske Welmoed! Renske Welmoed is a full papered star mare by the deceased stallion Tsjomme. She is in foal to Jasper 366 for a spring 2005 foal.
