This is the breeding that we have been planning for more than a decade - our first Age x Age line breeding. When we lost our original Age line mare, Renske Welmoed, we found a weanling who was also by an Age stallion - Vokeltsje D, sired by Tije 401 Sport. We imported her and waited for her to grow up - and thankfully, in the mean time, Signature Friesians imported the great Age line stallion, Sape 381 Sport! So in 2013, when we were ready to breed Vokeltsje for our keeper baby, Sape was the obvious choice.

We had a long wait for this foal - Vogue decided to hold out well past her previous delivery date before finally letting us meet our Sape baby around noon on May 17th, 2014. We were so thrilled to see that it was a colt! He was all legs - it took him a while to start nursing because he practically had to spreadeagle in order to get under Vogue to access the milk bar! But he is a strong (and persistent) guy, and he has not disappointed our extremely high expectations for this pairing.

With Vogue's extremely famous motherline (her granddam is Bontsje, the dam of both Tietse 428 Sport and Leffort 306 Preferent) combined with Sape's rare bloodlines, this colt is a real contender. He will be one to watch for sure!

At his foal inspection in Red Deer, Alberta, Viktor was judged by a very tough set of KFPS judges! Out of 13 colts, only 4 were awarded higher than a 3rd premium, and he was one of them. Judge Jan Hendriks commented on his very nice racial type, walk and trot, and mentioned numerous times that his only fault was a "weak topline, due to his growth stage" - read as, poor Viktor got butt high a few weeks before the keuring. Still, we are very pelased with the judges' comments on him, and he will be out of the butt high stage before the judges see him again!

Viktor will be staying at Mythic Friesians, with the hope of presenting him to the KFPS judges when he is 3 years old.
